PEW REPAIR AND REFINISHING GALLERY

Pew Repair

Pew repair for old historic church pews will require the pews to be removed the site and returned to our wood shop for the needed repairs. These generally include repairing splits in the wood seats, backs and supports.

Pew repair and refinishing by Egan Church Restorations to assist with the repair and refinishing of solid wood pews. Our team can repair solid oak pews, mahogany, or other solid hardwood church pews.

We can cut and resize the pews as needed, repair splits and cracks and restore the finish on your solid wood pews. Pews with veneer finishes can also be repaired but due to the thin veneer of real wood, deep sanding cannot be done without causing permanent damage.

First we apply a stripper material to remove the old varnish or polyurethane material. The pews are then cleaned to remove the stripper material so it won’t interfere with the new finish. The solid wood pews are then re-stained to the finish you require. Finally 2 coats of flat finish polyurethane are applied to seal the finish.

In New York, we can do the work on site, or remove the pews as needed. In other states, we would need to remove the pews in groups to undertake the repairs.
