Fixed Pew Cushions can be added to Wood Pews
Fixed pew cushions are the same type of cushions as factory installed for new pews. Foam is added to the seat and or back and then wrapped with your choice of fabric. The fabric is then secured using tack strips and upholstery tacks anchored into the wood.

Adding fixed cushions to wood pews can also be used as an alternate to expensive wood refinishing. If the ends are in good condition, adding cushions to the seat and back can cover blemishes and avoid the cost and mess of refinishing.

St Mary’s Parish had “laminated pews” which have a paper thin layer of finished wood, with a plywood core. Damage to the finished surface was beyond repair so the building committee chose to add fixed cushions to just the seats, hiding the damaged finish and avoiding the high cost of all new pews.
Our team of upholstery experts cut and shaped 2 inch thick, high density foam to each pew. The parish chose a solid blue fabric to match the aisle runners and our team secured the fabric over the foam and tacked it underneath the front edge of the seat.

During a complete interior renovation of their church, the parish chose to add fixed cushions to both the seats and backs. The pews were structurally sound and the cushions were chosen to add comfort and reduce echo in the sanctuary.
For both types of installations, a “tack strip” is added to the seat/back joint and the fabric is then wrapped over the seat and secured with upholstery tacks under the seat. We offer dozens of choices for fabrics, all “institutional grade” for durability.
Seat foam is 2 inches thick (thicker sizes also available) and back cushions are 1 inch thick. Dozens of standard fabrics to choose from. All foam and fabrics meet the standard fire code CA – 117.
