New stained glass window frames with energy saving “Thermo Barrier” frames.
New stained glass window frames were installed by Egan Church Restorations and our stained glass studio, Bovard Stained Glass. We helped create 24 new “thermo barrier” window frames for stained glass at Sts Peter and Paul Church in Brooklyn, NY . The Diocese of Brooklyn purchased the former McCaddin Performing Arts Center and renovated it into the new Sts Peter and Paul Parish. As part of the renovation, the old damaged wood window frames had to be removed and new aluminum frames installed that can accept stained glass.
Bovard Studio’s patented super energy saving window frames with internal venting systems were chosen by the Architect and Pastor for the superior heat saving design and the built in venting that will preserve their stained glass windows.
The National Preservation Society has determined that “all stained glass, when covered by either a single layer or double layer of protective coverings, MUST have a ventilation system to prevent heat build up in the stained glass and to prevent moisture build up between layers of glass.”
To meet this requirement when using Insulated Glass Units ( IG Unit) in our stained glass protective covering system, we created an internal venting system to block the cold air and saving as much heat as possible.
